As seen on Keeping Up With the Kardashians or one of the three spin-offs, (Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami, Kourtney and Kim Take New York, Khloe and Lamar) Kris Jenner is not your typical mother. Not only does Jenner serve as executive producer and one of the creative brains behind E!’s most lucrative television series, but she also manages her children’s careers as their “momager.” “I set up goals and aspirations for a lifetime,” says Jenner in my exclusive withjosh.com interview. She’s built a brand that brilliantly brought in nearly $65 million dollars last year alone through endorsements, paid appearances, fragrances, and more.

But behind the television shows, the Hollywood gossip magazines, and her multi-million dollar enterprise, Kris Jenner is a mom who strives to do her best in every circumstance. “Whether it’s horrible adversity or great success, there’s a reason for it. I’ve been through both,” remarks Jenner casually.

In my intimate interview with Kris Jenner, we go in-depth and behind the stories you’ve heard that helped shape the woman she’s become today. We first discuss the obvious fan questions about being the matriarch of the Kardashian clan and her self proclaimed title as a “momager.” We then explore her religious and spiritual side, which she credits to Robert Kardashian for introducing her to Christianity. “Even a family as crazy as ours can have a great relationship with God.” Jenner states that her belief in God is what has kept her grounded and given her strength during the difficult times. One of the most heart-wrenching moments for Jenner was when she lost her father and ex-husband Robert Kardashian within 8 weeks of each other. Jenner and I spend a significant amount of time on Kardashian’s passing and how it changed the lives of her children: Kourtney, Kim, Khloe and Rob. In a touching and thought-provoking moment, Jenner admits, “God got us through (Robert Kardashian’s death), it was in God’s plan, we didn’t like the plan at the moment, but there was a bigger picture out there somewhere. We had to have faith in that and it’s so hard to do when you’re crying.”

We next discuss living through O.J. Simpson’s murder trial. In a very uncomfortable moment, I asked her if she thought O.J. Simpson was guilty for the crime of murdering one of her best friends: Nicole Brown Simpson. Jenner admits that this was one of the most challenging times in her life but she had to be strong for her kids. “The biggest job I had that year was being a mom and being there for my family.”

The conclusion of our interview includes Jenner describing each of her family members and stars of Keeping Up With the Kardashians and the strength they give her.

Kris Jenner is a remarkable woman and although her story may be different from yours, it’s my hope that many of you will be encouraged by her strength and the grace she displays. “I’m living proof that you can get through anything if you’re strong, set your mind to it, and pray about it.” Well said, Kris!

The new season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians starts on June 12 on E!.

The ladies of ABC’s pop culture staple The View have never been shy about sharing their view on politics, religion, relationships and entertainment. There seems to always be some kind of headline or soundbite circling it’s way through the media. But the more I did my research on these outspoken ladies, the more I realized that none of them have done a recent in-depth, sit down interview to share their story and how their world view came to exist.

Emmy award-winner Sherri Shepherd has made her share of headlines on The View with her outrageous comedy and her unabashed honesty. However, she is involved in many aspects of show business. An accomplished actress and comedienne, Shepherd hosts GSN’s The Newlywed Game and wrote, “Permission Slips: Every Woman’s Guide to Giving Herself a Break,” while maintaining her recurring role as Angie Jordan, wife to Tracey Morgan’s character on NBC’s 30 Rock, and was also in the acclaimed film Precious, alongside Academy Award winner Mo’Nique. But behind the comedy, Shepherd has an amazing story to tell.

Without giving too much away, Sherri Shepherd gave me an unprecedented exclusive into her past and the pain along the way that helped bring her to her current level of success. She shares about growing up as a Jehovah’s Witness, becoming a born again Christian, her career highs and lows and openly discusses finding healing from her “many” abortions as a teenager. Her simple message of love, forgiveness, and freedom throughout life’s trials makes this must-see interview both extraordinary and powerful.

Sherri Shepherd is more than the soundbites you see on The View. She’s open, honest, real and is a reminder that behind all the Hollywood make-up and hair, she’s just like you and me: a work in progress. It doesn’t get any better than that.

In 2005, Drew Seeley was working on his demo with producer/writer Ray Cham when an unexpected opportunity came his way. Seeley and Cham began writing a song for a small, original Disney Channel Movie that would change his life forever. The name of the song was “Getcha Head in the Game” from the pop culture phenomenon High School Musical. Not only would this film spawn two sequels, but the soundtrack would go on to quadruple platinum status (selling over 4,000,000 albums!) and garnered an Emmy nomination for Seeley and Cham for best original song. Seeley was also given the opportunity to be the singing voice of the character, “Troy,” (played by Zac Efron) for the first film. Because of the success of High School Musical, Seeley was immediately thrust into the Disney limelight and went on to star in the High School Musical Concert Tour, playing to arenas with 60,000 screaming fans. But in no way did Seeley live in the shadow of Efron, nor did he become trapped with the stigma that often follows many Disney stars. Drew Seeley saw opportunity and ran with it.

Since 2005, Seeley has written/performed on several soundtracks and albums, including Disney’s Jump In, Wizards of Waverly Place, Alvin and the Chipmunks and other compilation albums. Seeley also co-wrote and performed four songs for the film, Another Cinderella Story, which he starred in with Selena Gomez. His song, “New Classic,” spent two months on Radio Disney’s Top 10 and the music video has had more than 2 million views on youtube. Seeley even went on to star on Broadway as Prince Eric in “Disney’s The Little Mermaid.”

In part one of our interview, Seeley and I take it back to his early years as a model in Toronto and then in 1994 when he was cast as Hal Prince’s rival in Showboat. Seeley candidly speaks about his journey to Los Angeles and his job as a “hot rice scooper” at P.F. Chang’s to having a taste of mega-success during his involvement with High School Musical. We have an interesting and thought-provoking segment on Seeley’s definition of success and how he approaches his career. Part one ends on a somber note as we discuss the tragic death of Seeley’s friend and “Getcha Head in the Game” co-writer/producer Ray Cham.

Part two is all about Drew Seeley’s debut album, The Resolution (now available on iTunes). Seeley describes his album as a “story album” as the music unfolds like a three act play. I wanted to know why Seeley chose to release and produce his album on his terms and through his own label. Seeley candidly speaks about the musical process of making The Resolution and his musical influences. We also talk about Seeley’s recent television series Glory Daze (currently seen on TBS), which was a starring vehicle for him but unfortunately was not picked up for a second season.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I was invited to interview Drew Seeley, but I was pleasantly surprised by a multi-talented, humble, and all-around nice guy. I strongly recommend you check out The Resolution and follow the long career Drew Seeley has coming his way. He’s an extraordinary talent who truly deserves all that will come his way. www.drewseeley.com

On last week’s American Idol, Ryan Seacrest called Peggi Blu “The Vocal Coach from Hell” after a clip was shown of Blu intensely speaking with two of Idol’s youngest contestants. She was quoted saying, “You’re going to die onstage in front of all those people. I’m going to be laying in my bed watching you just croak,” and then she interrupted the girls after they started a song and screamed, “No! What is that? Sing, dammit! Do it from the top one more time, and don’t make a mistake.” In a matter of minutes, American Idol fans, bloggers, and entertainment journalists formed an immediate love/hate opinion about Blu. Some even called her “the next Simon Cowell.” So after making such a splash on America’s #1 rated show, I knew that I had to have an exclusive withjosh.com/ainow.org interview with her.

In part one we tackle the obvious questions about Blu’s time on American Idol and her opinion on being called “the vocal coach from hell.” We also discuss the events that lead to her outburst and what the producers didn’t show us. It’s honestly quite fascinating as we are reminded that although American Idol is a singing competition show, it’s still a reality show and edited for their storyline. This is the behind-the-scenes information we’ve been waiting for!

In part two we continue to talk Idol, experience, and the backlash. We also discuss her qualifications to be American Idol’s vocal coach. Did you know Peggi Blu had a hit dance single in 1980, co-starred in two Broadway musicals – “The Wiz” and “Marilyn (Monroe) An American Fable” (directed by Kenny Ortega). In 1986, she went on Star Search on CBS. In only 8 minutes and 4 shows, Peggi became the 1986 Grand Champion Female Vocalist. This led to a deal with Capitol Records & the record “Blu Blowin’.” Blu was also personally requested to sing at President Bill Clinton’s first inauguration and has sang with Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan, Barbra Streisand and Luther Vandross. She concludes the interview with a special message to her American Idol students and to you the viewer. www.peggiblu.com

It’s no surprise that I’m a big fan of Kimberly Caldwell. Since season two of American Idol, I’ve followed her career as a television personality and watched her evolve as a recording artist. Last year ainow.org and I featured my interview, which was appropriately titled “Worth the Wait,” with Caldwell as she prepared to release her first album, Without Regret, through Vanguard/Capitol Records. Unfortunately for the fans, the wait would be a little longer as the album release date was pushed back for almost a year as it went through several changes, including replacing three songs on the album.

In part one of the interview, Caldwell and I tackle the obvious questions about why her album went through the changes and we talk about the challenges of promoting an album and her new single, “Desperate Girls and Stupid Boys.” Although the song title may sound a little harsh, Caldwell explains the message is actually self-empowerment for anyone who tried to be something they’re not just to be able to fit in.

Part two has some of my favorite Caldwell moments. We dive into the details about the three new songs recently added to Without Regret, “Desperate Girls and Stupid Boys,” “Hotter Without You,” and “Naked.” Caldwell has learned so much about the music industry and promoting this record, but what’s apparent about this process is the emotional growth she has gone through in the past eight months. And don’t worry American Idol fans! We also ask about her opinion on Season 10.

There’s something almost magical when you’re with Kimberley Caldwell or when you see her on stage. She knows exactly who she is and where’s she’s going, and she’s doing it all without regrets. I’ve heard the new album. I’ve seen her perform the songs live. I promise you, Kimberly Caldwell has an amazing project coming your way and it was way worth the wait. Without Regret hits stores on April 19, 2011

In this industry, I count myself blessed to have had the opportunity to visit with and interview the beautiful and talented Montego Glover. Her performance and hard work on the Broadway musical, Memphis, have earned her and the production a number of awards: she won the esteemed Drama Desk Award, the Outer Critics Circle Award, and a Drama League nomination, a Tony nomination and the show won the Tony Award for Best Musical.

In the interview we discuss race and interracial relationships as it is demonstrated in the musical and in real life. We also talk about her performance and admiration for the Obamas and the kinship she felt towards them. We finish the interview with some very grounded advice she gives to her fans.

Ms. Glover really does resonate with me and hopefully with you as well; she has it all as an accomplished artist as an actress, singer, musician, and dancer and yet she still sets goals for herself. I was absolutely impressed with her grace and beauty, and I hope that after watching this interview, you will be impressed with her, too. Montego Glover can be seen nightly at the Shubert Theatre. For tickets see www.memphisthemusical.com

Marc Summers is best known for his eleven seasons of The Food Network’s hit show Unwrapped, but for millions of us twenty-somethings, Summers was the host of Nickelodeon’s iconic 80′s game show Double Dare. I, like many of my friends wanted to be a contestant on Double Dare and “take the physical challenge” through the wackiest obstacle course ever created for television. The show’s popularity (over 500 episodes!) changed the way youth centric shows were developed and many credit Summers’ wit and charm for Nickelodeon’s early success.

After having several hit shows on Nickelodeon, Summers became a correspondent and guest host for ABC’s Home Show and began hosting Lifetime’s daily lifestyle show, Our Home. Summers created headlines in the late 90′s when he announced he had OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) and appeared on several talk shows promoting his book, “Everything In Its Place.” Unfortunately, this brave move and awareness almost killed his career. Summers spent a few years away from the public eye and then started working for The Food Network and can currently be seen on the ever-so-popular Food Network show, Unwrapped.

In part one, Summers and I discuss his journey to Los Angeles and reveal his early days at Nickelodeon. He takes us through the process of his first audition for Double Dare and even mentions there might be a 25th anniversary Double Dare arena tour! Maybe I’ll finally get that chance to take the physical challenge!

In part two, Summers candidly reflects on his career and how he wanted to be a talk show host or a hard core journalist. We also tackle his struggle with OCD and how it affected his career and family – namely, Summers had a signed deal to host the new Hollywood Squares but lost his job after he became the spokesperson for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

In our third and final segment, Summers and I discuss The Food Network’s Unwrapped, which is going into its eleventh season. Although Summers doesn’t consider himself a foodie, he does feel privileged to be a part of a long history of family programming. Summers also has a special message for all of us who were obsessed with Double Dare.

On a personal note, Marc Summers was one of my childhood heroes. It’s partly because of him that I wanted to be a television host and I’m thankful for all his hard work. Marc Summers, thank you for the impact you made on my childhood and my life.

By definition, a guru is one who is regarded as having great knowledge, wisdom, and authority in a certain area, and who uses it to guide others. I had an interesting thought: would it be possible to find a “pop guru” who could explain why we obsess over popular culture and who could possibly clarify why America’s favorite show, American Idol, was tragically put on “life support” in Season 9. After a conversation with the-ever-so knowledgeable Herb Longs (founder of ainow.org), I knew I had to interview the dynamic Jim Cantiello, a.k.a. @JambaJim.

Jim Cantiello is best known as a television personality and MTV news correspondent. He hosted the hilarious Tweet Beat, has been seen on Martha Stewart’s daytime talk show, and is MTV’s resident American Idol expert as the host of American Idol in 60 Seconds on MTV.com, and offers a breath of fresh air into the cobwebs of what MTV used to be.

Cantiello invited me to interview him at the MTV studios in Times Square. In part one of my interview we talk about his early days at MTV, then we jump right into the mess of last season’s American Idol as he breaks the season down for us. His candidness and knowledge of Idol is amazing, but most of all, I couldn’t get enough of Cantiello’s passion for the show. He loves it! We also tackle celebrities and their obsession with Twitter. This is the point where I have to give a shout out to the David Archuleta fans (and you know who you are!) as we discuss Archuleta’s memorable tweets.

Part 2 is fascinating as I ask Cantiello about his favorite Idols as well as his thoughts on some of the recent public events surrounding Fantasia. Was it a publicity stunt for her album and reality show? For the Kradison fans, we dive in deep to discuss Kris Allen, Adam Lambert and Allison Iraheta and their singles. I also wanted to know what changes he would make to save American Idol.

In part 3, Cantiello and I discuss who he thinks is the worst American Idol winner. His answer may surprise you and I look forward to reading your responses. (Side note: Cantiello’s honesty is so refreshing that it’s hard not to like him). Part 3 also tackles your fan questions including his red carpet interaction with Lee Dewyze and why Cantiello loves pop culture so much.

Jim Cantiello is definitely a pop culture expert and it was not only fun to pick his brain but it was also a memorable experience. He’s exactly how you picture him to be: straight forward, fun, and a great teacher.
