Kimberly Caldwell – Worth the Wait

American Idol’s season two finalist Kimberly Caldwell has an innate gift of staying in the media spotlight. Although it has been seven years since Idol, Caldwell’s infectious humor and undeniable confidence has made her a regular as a television personality for networks like Fox Sports, MTV, and the TV Guide Network. Hosting not only allowed Caldwell the opportunity to redefine herself as a host but when the time was right, to debut her music as a new artist and not just another product of the Idol machine.

This summer Vanguard/Capitol Records will release Caldwell’s debut album, “Without Regret.” From the in-your-face power anthem “Heart Like Mine,” co-written by American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi and Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger, to the subtle and personal “Human After All,” Caldwell’s pop-inflected rock album is sure to have a strong debut. The songs are addicting and are almost lyrically flawless. It’s obvious that Caldwell and her team have taken the appropriate time in piecing together the right album that would not only epitomize Caldwell but also compliment her raspy, sexy sound.

In part one of my interview with Kimberly Caldwell, we tackle the obvious question about why now was the right time to release her first album. We dive into the message behind her first single “Mess of You” and Caldwell gives me an exclusive acoustic performance. I also introduce a new Idol segment called “Idols Ask Idols,” where I ask questions sent to me by former Idols. Part one ends with an another acoustic performance, but this time Caldwell shines with her favorite song, “Say Love.”

Part two of our interview dives into the meaning behind the songs on “Without Regret.” Caldwell co-wrote four highly personal songs that document the different stages and emotional journeys of her relationships. Her genuine honesty and willingness to share her personal experiences make part two relatable to anyone who has ever loved or lost love.

“Without Regret” is a fantastic debut that not only features her unique sound but Caldwell’s talent as a songwriter. It may have taken seven years to get back to her musical roots, but it was worth wait!

  1. Thanks for a great interview Josh. I’ve always really liked Kimberly’s personality and this interview reminds me why. I do have to say though, my favorite part was when you did your “GIRL!!!” impersonation of Kimberley Locke. That made me laugh my ass off!!! :-D

  2. Congrats Josh!!!

A great INTERVIEW. It’s really good, I can see the evolution into a show. The segment “Idols ask Idols” is interesting; I think It’s one situation that every fan wanna watch. I think in a show like American Idols sometimes there’s moments when you see the interaction between the members, but you ever wanna watch more and more!! It’s about the relationships, the music, the different styles and it creates a great climax!! It leads to differents points of view about the performance, the criticism, and the funny moments!!
It allows us to see more about the artists, what they wanna say, it’s cool.
Josh, your work is really great!! I love that you change the way to make a interview, You innovate the way to show us every interview!!! I ‘m so proud of you !!!
