Reichen Lehmkuhl – Don’t Ask, Just Tell

“Don’t ask, Don’t Tell” has been one of the most heated discussions in Washington for a while now: over 13,000 men and women of the United States Military have been dismissed due to their sexual orientation. In order to tackle the topic of homosexuality in the military, I interviewed former Air Force captain and reality show winner Reichen Lehmkuhl to discuss how he lived a double life as a gay man in the military.

I’ve interviewed many people over the years – including some of my friends – but American Idol winner Kris Allen is the first person to make me forget that I was actually conducting an interview. From the moment Allen walked into the room, his genuine attentiveness and laid back demeanor made me feel as though I was chatting with an old friend. It was not at all what I expected from someone who was thrust into super-stardom just months ago.

Allison Iraheta – Idol’s Secret Weapon

American Idol’s eighth season was definitely a media-fueled frenzy that featured the battle for the number one spot between glam rock’s Adam Lambert and down to earth Kris Allen, but under all of the media attention lies the brilliant and spunky seventeen year old, Allison Iraheta. Iraheta is no stranger to the limelight; at age fourteen she competed and won the Telemundo reality singing competition, Quinceañera, taking home a grand prize of $50,000, but unfortunately the promised recording contract never materialized. Two years later, she made her mark on the entertainment industry with her consistently strong performances on American Idol, finishing in fourth place and finally signing a recording contract with Jive Records.
