Lauren Berger – The Intern Queen

Lauren Berger Lauren Berger is not your average twenty-something: she has drive, determination and a work ethic that would make Donald Trump shake in his comb over. Berger is the self-proclaimed “Intern Queen” after she completed 15 internships during her 4 years of college. She then created her own Intern company, Intern Queen Inc., with the global goal of raising internship awareness between students and companies. Berger was recently named one of BusinessWeek’s top 5 entrepreneurs under the age of 25 and was the only female on the list. Watch out Trump!

Originally from Clearwater, Florida, Berger graduated from The University of Central Florida – Orlando, in 2006. Berger’s first job after college was working for Tracy Brennan, the head of the motion picture talent department of the powerhouse agency CAA in Los Angeles. While at CAA, Berger met producer Marshall Herskovitz (Blood Diamond, Traffic, My So-Called Life) and he offered his support as an investor in Berger’s vision of an internship company for college students. Herskovitz and Berger created “The Quarterlife Internship Program Powered By The Intern Queen” in 2008 to provide a listings site for students to search and apply for those hard-to-reach internships. Today Berger runs the website www.internqueen.com from her home in Los Angeles. The site features internships with SONY, NASCAR, UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP, SEVENTEEN MAGAZINE, etc. and receives over 25,000 unique visitors a month. Berger is currently finishing her upcoming book and traveling around the country speaking at colleges.

In my interview, Berger and I discuss her how she became the “Intern Queen” and why internships are a must in the current job market. This is definitely a must see interview for anyone in high school, college or is currently unemployed. Berger also announces a new partnership with OneCubicle.com which allows all potential interns to now apply for an internship for free!
