Rick Egusquiza – The National Enquirer

When the news broke of John Edwards’ political scandal with his mistress/future baby mama Rielle Hunter, it wasn’t CNN or MSNBC that had the exclusive story, it was The National Enquirer. The Enquirer had been following the story since September, 2007 after an anonymous tip. Covering the story was The National Enquirer’s senior reporter, Rick Egusquiza, who first exposed Edwards’ misdeeds on October 10, 2007. I was never the cool kid or the smart kid, and I wasn’t really good at anything except talking…a lot. I had passing grades and was eager to learn, but providing some sort of entertainment for the class was always on the top of my school agenda. I found comfort in the approval of my teachers (even when I was in trouble,) and I sought their knowledge and wisdom. In some ways, I preferred them over the students around me. I had amazing teachers.
